Sitemap Checker & Finder

Find XML sitemaps, validate their structure, and inspect URL counts and sitemap indexes.

How to use sitemap.xml for faster discovery

List canonical pages only

A sitemap should include the canonical version of indexable pages. Exclude app dashboards, duplicate URLs, internal search pages, and private routes.

Use accurate lastmod

lastmod should change when meaningful page content changes, not every time a deploy touches files. Search engines use it as a freshness hint.

Link it from robots.txt

A Sitemap directive in robots.txt helps crawlers find the file quickly. Also submit it in search console tools where possible.

FAQ

Should all pages have high priority?

No. Use priority to express relative importance, not to force ranking.

Can sitemap.xml improve AI search?

Indirectly. Better discovery and canonical clarity help AI-connected crawlers find source pages.

Moving a help center? usedocs imports any public docs site from its URL and creates a redirect for every old page, so links and rankings carry over.
